This carpet is knotted in the city of Sanandaj which lies in the province of Kurdistan in western Persia. The pattern consists of rhombs, mir-e buteh and herati and the carpet is dominated by red and dark blue colours. The wool is generally of high quality. Senneh (the older name of Sanandaj) gave the name to the Persian knot.
Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
