This carpet is knotted in the town of Joshaghan in central Iran. The town is known for its famous carpet weaving traditions, old style weaving, interesting designs and the fast and limpid colours. On this carpet medallions with rombs are the most common, but also mina khani, gül in henna and weeping willow-motifs occur. The ground colour is often blue, beige or red and a newly made carpet is considered to be of good quality.
Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
